Chips. Salsa. Repeat!

With Cinco de Mayo fast approaching, I've got something on my mind.

Yes, tacos!

Who doesn’t love tacos? Like, literally all kinds of tacos. But have you ever wondered what type of taco is the most popular? Beef? Chicken? Pork? Or dare I say, fish?

The world's favorite taco might surprise you!

Ranking at the top of the list of the most popular taco worldwide is the "al pastor" taco. Al pastor tacos are typically made with marinated pork that is cooked on a vertical spit, then thinly sliced and served on a soft corn tortilla with diced onions, cilantro, pineapple, and a squeeze of lime. The marinade typically includes a mixture of spices, chilies, and pineapple juice, which gives the meat a sweet and tangy flavor.

Since it’s Cinco de Mayo and tacos and great Mexican food is on the menu, I want to share one of my favorite restaurants—and I hope that you will share your favorites too!

My favorite Mexican restaurant

I love-love-love El Aguila in Pleasant Hill. Their Tlalepno soup is spicy and out of this world! And their beef chile relleno, when it is on the menu, is worth every delicious bite. It's not deep-fried and filled with cheese, but instead, it's roasted and filled with meat and veggies. Omg! My mouth just watered!

And their chips! I love the thinly-sliced real potato chips and super spicy salsa. Their food is organic and specific to the place where the family is from in Mexico, so it's more than just tacos and beans and rice (although they have those too!) You really can't go wrong.

And how about a tasty cocktail to go with all this delicious food?

From Margaritas to classics like the Paloma and Michelada to agave-fueled riffs like the Mezcal Negroni, here are 15 cocktails to make for Cinco de Mayo. Enjoy!
